Privacy policy

How BGCut handles images and technical data

Effective July 13, 2026. This policy describes data handling when you use bgcut.org and its background-removal features.

1. Scope

This policy applies to the BGCut website, background-removal service, refinement tools, and related support communication. BGCut is referred to as “we” or “the service.” By using the service, you acknowledge this policy. If its practices are not appropriate for an image, do not upload that image.

2. Uploaded images

An image you submit is transmitted to the BGCut server and decoded for automated processing. To keep the platform safe, the original may be retained for up to 30 days for content-safety review, abuse prevention, and service-quality investigation, then automatically deleted. A limited compliance record connected with confirmed misuse may be retained when reasonably necessary. Processed cutouts and masks are returned to the browser and are not intentionally kept as a permanent user gallery.

3. Technical and usage information

For an audited upload, the BGCut application records the request time, processing endpoint, client IP address supplied through the trusted proxy, file name, content type, archived file size, SHA-256 content hash, selected model, moderation status, and whether the archived image has been deleted. Server access logs record request time, path, status, and network address. Cloudflare and Google may independently process browser, device, cookie, and approximate-location signals under their own policies. BGCut does not require a name, payment method, or account for the core workflow.

4. Cookies and local storage

Local storage remembers language and theme preferences. Google AdSense and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies on advertising-enabled informational pages. Legal pages and the image editor are intended to remain free of advertising. Browser settings can remove or block stored data, although doing so may reset preferences or affect advertising choices.

5. How information is used

Information is used to process images and return results, secure and rate-limit the service, investigate abuse, diagnose errors, improve reliability, respond to support and privacy requests, display advertising where enabled, and comply with applicable obligations. Uploaded images are not described as a public content library and are not sold as image assets.

6. Advertising and consent

Google AdSense may display ads on eligible informational pages. Google and participating vendors may use information from this and other sites to measure or personalize advertising. Where required, advertising cookies and personalized ads are used only after an appropriate consent choice through a Google-certified consent platform.

7. Sharing

Information may be handled by infrastructure, security, email, and advertising providers only to deliver their functions; disclosed when required by valid legal process; or transferred as part of a business reorganization subject to appropriate protections. BGCut does not sell uploaded images. External providers apply their own privacy terms to their services.

8. Retention

Uploaded originals are retained no longer than 30 days under the normal safety-review process. Operational and security logs are kept for a limited period appropriate to diagnosis and abuse prevention. Confirmed-misuse records may be kept longer when necessary to enforce terms or meet obligations. Support email is retained as needed to resolve the conversation and maintain appropriate records.

9. Security

BGCut uses HTTPS in public transit, access controls for administration, rate limits, and automated deletion routines. No transmission or storage system is completely secure. Do not upload an image when the residual risk of server-side processing is unacceptable.

10. International users and legal bases

Data may be processed in a country different from your own. Where the EEA or UK GDPR applies, processing may rely on performance of the requested service, legitimate interests in security and reliability, consent for advertising technologies where required, and legal obligations. Appropriate transfer safeguards are used when required.

11. Your choices and rights

Depending on location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or obtain certain personal data, withdraw consent, or complain to a supervisory authority. Email privacy@bgcut.org to make a request. Because BGCut does not require accounts and holds limited identity information, it may be impossible to associate an anonymous past upload with a person.

12. Children, changes, and contact

The service is not directed to children under 13 or the applicable minimum age. If you believe a child supplied personal information, contact us. This policy may be updated as the service or legal requirements change; the effective date will be revised. Privacy questions go to privacy@bgcut.org and general product questions to support@bgcut.org.
