About BGCut

A background remover you can actually correct

BGCut is an independent, browser-based background remover. Automatic AI does the first pass; inspection and editing tools let you fix what it misses instead of accepting a black-box output.

Why BGCut exists

Removing a background sounds simple until the subject has loose hair, glass, thin product details, or colors that blend into the scene. A useful tool needs two things: a strong first result, and corrections you can understand. BGCut is built around exactly that — start automatically, then refine only where the image needs it.

No account is needed for the core workflow. Upload an image, compare the original and the result, preview it on white, gray, or transparent backgrounds, and download a PNG. Batch queues handle repeated work; the editor handles difficult edges.

What the product includes

Two removal models

RMBG is the recommended default; BiRefNet is one click away when a subject responds differently. BGCut is independent and not affiliated with the model publishers.

Smart refinement

Smart erase and smart restore use segmentation to fix meaningful regions from a short stroke.

Manual brushes

Pixel-level erase and restore with adjustable size and hardness, for edges no model can guess.

A full editing loop

Undo, redo, zoom, pan, before/after comparison, preview backgrounds, and an optional export shadow — all in the browser.

How we approach privacy and reliability

Images are processed on the BGCut server. Uploaded originals may be kept for up to 30 days for abuse prevention and content-safety review, then deleted automatically unless a compliance record must be preserved. Results are returned to your browser — there is no permanent user gallery.

AI output still makes mistakes around motion blur, reflections, smoke, glass, and low contrast. BGCut does not pretend otherwise. The comparison view and refinement tools exist because honest inspection is part of a dependable image workflow.
